Franklin Congratulates MS Readathon on 30 Years
Sydney, Australia. March 30, 2009 Franklin Electronic Publishers (NYSE Alternext US:FEP) congratulates MS Readathon on 30 years of encouraging children to read books, learn about multiple sclerosis (MS) and raise funds to help people living with MS.
MS Readathon inspires children across Australia to read over one million books during the month of June. Money raised by the kids funds support services for people living with MS, their family and carers and also funds research projects seeking a cure for the most common disease of the central nervous system among young Australians.
As well as winning some great prizes, 10 lucky participants will also receive Franklin Scholarships, each providing 12 months free tuition at their local Kip McGrath Education Centre. Franklin's sponsorship of MS Readathon is now in its 14th year.
"Franklin are proud to be MS Readathon's longest serving sponsor. For 30 years MS Readathon has been part of the lives of young Australians and their families, making reading exciting, promoting literacy and raising money to help meet the needs of people living with MS." commented Russell Goldberg, Managing Director of Franklin Electronic Publishers (Aust.) P/L.
Franklin's sponsorship is being provided as part of an overall commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all young people. It complements Franklin's support for National Literacy & Numeracy Week (NLNW), The Premier's Spelling Bee, Spellmasters, New Zealand National Spelling Bee and Franklin Scholarships.
NLNW is a collaborative initiative of the Australian Government conducted jointly with State and Territory Governments.
The Premier's Spelling Bee is proudly presented by the NSW Department of Education and Training and the Premier's Department.
