Improving Literacy Outcomes

Sydney, Australia. November 14, 2005 Franklin Electronic Publishers (AMEX:FEP) today announced that parents will receive Free Assessment & 2 Weeks Free Tutoring for their child when they buy a portable electronic dictionary during Christmas and Back to School.

Free Assessment & 2 Weeks Free Tutoring will occur nationally at participating Kip McGrath Education Centres. Valued at $80, it is available on purchases made from 1st December 2005 to 18th February 2006.

Franklin's range of portable electronic dictionaries include premium content from Oxford and Collins, phonetic UK spell correction, thesaurus, solvers and learning games with models to suit all students from Primary School to University.

Free Assessment & 2 Weeks Free Tutoring is being provided as part of an overall commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all young Australians. It complements Franklin's support for National Literacy & Numeracy Week (NLNW), MS Readathon, The Premier's Spelling Bee and Franklin Scholarships.

"Children today have to be smarter than we ever were and nurtured as they learn. Higher literacy outcomes empower kids with knowledge, self-esteem and perspective," commented Russell Goldberg, Managing Director of Franklin Electronic Publishers (Aust.) P/L. "Franklin's portable electronic dictionaries stimulate young minds, even those that don't enjoy visual learning," he added.

Kip McGrath Education Centres are using Franklin products to help improve word power and confidence in their students. In the UK and USA, they are used in classrooms at over 20,000 schools.

NLNW is a collaborative initiative of the Commonwealth Government conducted jointly with State and Territory Governments.

The Premier's Spelling Bee is proudly presented by the NSW Department of Education and Training and the Premier's Department.

Franklin electronic dictionaries are available in department stores, duty free, electrical, book and other leading retailers.
