Franklin Proudly Supports The Premier's Spelling Bee
Sydney, Australia. May 21, 2009 Franklin Electronic Publishers (NYSE Alternext US:FEP) is proud to continue its ongoing support of The Premier's Spelling Bee.
Primary school students throughout NSW are racing to take part in the Premier's Spelling Bee, striving for their 'personal best'.
The Premier's Spelling Bee was instituted by the NSW State Government as part of its continuing commitment to improving the reading and writing abilities of students in their earliest years of learning. This year over 71,000 students will participate with 32 regional finals in NSW schools as far apart as Broken Hill and Deniliquin, or Alstonville and Narooma.
The program includes activities to encourage all students to engage with spelling and to promote improved literacy in combination with the English K-6 syllabus.
Students are encouraged to strive for their personal best - but more importantly to enjoy themselves throughout the competition. The skills used and learnt in spelling competitions like this are invaluable for life. They expand students' vocabulary and give students the confidence to speak in public.
Every student in NSW who participates in the Premier's Spelling Bee will receive a certificate signed by the Premier.
Students also get a chance to compete and represent their school. Each star performer will have the opportunity to go on to compete in the regional and state competitions and win prizes courtesy of Franklin Electronic Publishers.
The Premier's Spelling Bee is proudly presented by the NSW Department of Education and Training and the Premier's Department.
