Franklin Proudly Supports National Literacy and Numeracy Week
Sydney, Australia. July 14, 2010 Franklin Electronic Publishers is proud to continue its ongoing support of National Literacy and Numeracy Week.
National Literacy and Numeracy Week (NLNW) celebrates the work of Australian teachers and schools in raising the literacy and numeracy levels of all students. Now in its tenth year, NLNW is a collaborative initiative of the Australian Government conducted jointly with State and Territory Governments.
Franklin's sponsorship is being provided as part of an overall commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all young people. It complements Franklin's support for MS Readathon, The Premier's Spelling Bee, Spellmasters, the New Zealand National Spelling Bee and Franklin Scholarships.
"Children today have to be smarter than we ever were and nurtured as they learn. Literacy and numeracy skills empower kids with knowledge, self-esteem and perspective," commented Russell Goldberg, Managing Director of Franklin Electronic Publishers (Aust.) P/L.
NLNW events will include a range of activities including Reach for The Stars and National Celebration of Literacy which involves students creating and sharing stories using digital, multi-media. This activity has been developed by the Australian Literacy Educators' Association (ALEA) and the Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE). Schools will receive excellent teaching resources, fantastic networking opportunities and the chance to win great prizes from Franklin.
