New Electronic Macquarie Schools Dictionary:

A Compelling Literacy Resource

Sydney Australia, 1st July 2008 - Franklin Electronic Publishers (AMEX:FEP) today launched Australia’s own electronic, Macquarie Schools Dictionary. This portable, interactive device combines a collection of powerful, built-in reference books from Macquarie Dictionary Publishers (www.macquarieonline.com.au).

Weighing just 113g, Macquarie Schools Dictionary combines primary and high school dictionaries, essay writing and grammar guides, and biographical and geographical dictionaries. Phonetic spell correction and a thesaurus with half a million synonyms build word power and confidence. Built-in word games and spelling bees, with the option to use your own word list, make learning fun.

Macquarie Schools Dictionary also translates major Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island languages by region, to and from English, with cultural context.

“Macquarie Schools Dictionary has been developed as part of an overall commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all young people. It complements Franklin's support for National Literacy & Numeracy Week (NLNW), MS Readathon, The Premier's Spelling Bee and Spellmasters”, said Russell Goldberg, Managing Director of Franklin Electronic Publishers (Aust.) P/L. “It is an essential school reference tool for empowering students with literacy skills, knowledge and access to Australia’s original languages”, he added.

Built-in features from seven reference books in the Macquarie Dictionary range include:
