NLNW hots up with website competitions
Momentum is building leading up to National Literacy and Numeracy Week 2004 (NLNW) celebrations with the launch today of two fun competitions for students.
These competitions are generously sponsored by Franklin Electronic Publishers and Dymocks Booksellers. There are prizes for individuals, primary schools and secondary schools. Find out all you need to know to enter at www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au today!
NLNW is an Australian Government initiative, run in conjunction with State and Territory Governments to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding work undertaken by Australian schools, teachers, parents and individuals in the community to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of all Australians, particularly young people. NLNW 2004 will take place from 30 August until 5 September.
Literacy and numeracy are fundamental skills that are critically important to Australia's future prosperity and position in the world. The promotion of strong literacy and numeracy skills amongst our young people assists in countering educational and social disadvantage.
As part of its overall sponsorship, Franklin Electronics will sponsor one competition which includes prizes of 24 electronic spellers worth $39.95 each and the chance for two schools to win $500 worth of Franklin Electronics products.
Dymocks will sponsor a second competition which includes prizes of 50 NLNW prize packs for individuals, worth $100 each. Each pack contains a Commonwealth Bank backpack, an Australia Post letter writing kit, an AFL mini football, a Lovatts Crossword Puzzle, a book from Dymocks, a Franklin electronic thesaurus and a NLNW 2004 Bookmark. There is also a fantastic opportunity for two schools to win $500 in Dymocks book vouchers.
Both competitions close on 27 August, so make sure you don't miss out, by getting your entries in soon. Winners will be announced on the NLNW website ( www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au ) on the 10 September 2004.
